Experienced Tigers have sights set on playoff spots

A solid group of seniors who have gained experience.

 

That is what Tokay High football coach Michael Holst feels about this year’s team. Of the 49-player roster, 27 players are seniors. Last season, Tokay posted a 2-3 record in the Tri-City Athletic League and 4-6 overall.

 

“Our core group of seniors understands what we are doing, and how we need to do it to be successful,” Holst said.

 

Blend together with the junior class, which went 7-3 overall and 2-3 in the TCAL as last year’s frosh-soph team, and there are reasons why Holst and his coaching staff have high expectations this season, and going into 2018.

 

“There’s always a learning curve when you move up from frosh/soph to varsity,” Holst said. “We have a handful of players who have made a smooth transition due to their dedication in the ‘offseason.’ Playing varsity football requires a commitment to the program, team and oneself.”
