High school football: Team camaraderie building for Glasgow, Tigers

Tokay running back Cory Glasgow looks to go up the field in Thursday's 7-on-7 passing game against Bradshaw Christian at Cosumnes Oaks High of Elk Grove.

ELK GROVE — Cory Glasgow is known for his running abilities.

Now the Tokay High football running back is looking to make a bigger name for himself on defense.

On the offensive side, Glasgow rushed 142 times for 901 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2016. At times, he played at defensive back. But the 5-foot-6, 170-pound athletic Glasgow, who faced much bigger defensive ends and linebackers last fall on both sides of the ball, has been moved to strong safety.

That is the spot he played for Tokay on Thursday at Cosumnes Oaks’ Thursday Night Lights, a series of 7-on-7 passing games among area high school football teams. Tokay joined Liberty Ranch and Galt, along with Bradshaw Christian of Elk Grove, McNair and host Cosumnes Oaks in the three rounds of teams displaying their skills on both sides of the ball.
