Tigers rout Bruins with big plays

STOCKTON — The Tokay High football team thumped Bear Creek 45-9 on Friday, courtesy of three first-half touchdowns from running back Cory Glasgow

The senior running back had rushing touchdowns of 79 and 10 yards, plus an 83-yard reception on a screen pass. Tokay (1-0) got the ball moving in the first quarter on a 29-yard field goal by Diego Ramirez. That was followed by Glasgow’s two touchdowns.

In the second quarter, Glasgow pulled in a touchdown in the air, an 83-yard strike from quarterback Daniel Garlick to make it 24-0 with 10:53 left.

An interception led to Bear Creek’s first points on the board, on a 38-yard field goal with 5:27 remaining in the quarter to make it 24-3. But the Tigers made it 31-3 when Garlick hit Joseph Heryford on a 94-yard pass, as Heryford was in stride, streaking down the sidelines with 12 seconds left before halftime.

The host Bruins scored their lone touchdown of the game when Ethan George on a 32-yard interception to make it 31-9.

Tokay bumped its lead to 38-9 on another touchdown, this time a 27-yard run from Luke Millan, who was just moved up from the frosh-soph team. Joshua Kirchner returned an interception that led to the final score.

David Cooley-Scott had an interception for the Tigers, who had two in game, with 8:53 left in the game.
