Toward the end of the second quarter, momentum seemed to be on the Tokay High football team’s side on Friday night.
But McNair turned its fortunes around at that same time that led the Eagles to a 47-3 win over the Tigers at the Grape Bowl, which spoiled homecoming festivities for Tokay (2-3).
Tokay cut into McNair’s lead to 7-3 with 10:33 left in the second quarter after Diego Ramirez booted a 26-yard field goal. Then the Eagles moed the ball to midfield after the kick-off, but lost possession when Tokay defensive end David Yciano recovered a McNair fumble at the Tokay 38-yard line. However, in six plays, the Tigers’ offense stalled at their own 48, and was forced to punt.
McNair (2-3) took over the rest of the half and game. The Eagles took a 14-3 lead when running back Craig Miller scored on a 3-yard run with 4:58 remaining.
