Tokay's Joshua Kirchner is taken down by St. Mary's Asar-alim Moore and Rick Telitz during their game at the Grape Bowl in Lodi Friday, Oct. 6, 2017.
Daniel Garlick and Chase Howell provided some exciting moments for the Tokay High football team’s Tri-City Athletic League home opener.
But St. Mary’s Aaron Jenkins III displayed his running skills that led to the Rams posting a 62-0 win over Tokay (0-1 in the TCAL, 2-4) at the Grape Bowl on Friday.
Jenkins III returned two punts of 34 and 22 yards into Tigers’ territory early in the first quarter. That set up St. Mary’s running back William Brown touchdown runs of 2 and 8 yards within five minutes into the game. That led to St. Mary’s taking a 13-0 lead.
“That’s a good football team,” said Tokay coach Michael Holst of St. Mary’s. “He’s (Jenkins III) a good athlete.”
St. Mary’s (1-0 in the TCAL, 4-2) was without the services of running back Dusty Frampton. But Brown proved to be too much for the Tigers in the early stages of the league contest.
