TRACY — James McClain raised his arms in celebration.
The former Tokay High football player and his North teammates were looking to gain momentum, thanks to their defense. McClain, an offensive tackle, felt that they could put more points on the scoreboard over the South in the 45th annual Lions All-Star Football Game at Wayne Schneider Stadium on Saturday.
But the South flexed its muscles on defense in the second half and most of the first half. That led to a 24-2 victory over the North. The South has won five of the last six games over the North, which still leads the series 25-18-2.
