Tigers’ passing, defense displayed at tourney

STOCKTON — In two months, the Tokay High football team will kick off the season against Patterson in a non-league home game.

But on Friday, the Tigers were focused on execution and improvements at the Stagg Brown and Gold Tournament in Stockton. There were 20 high school football teams taking part.

Tokay quarterback Chase Howell took all of the snaps in the Tigers’ four pool play games against Modesto, East Union of Manteca, McNair and Franklin. Howell, now a senior, was on target with most of his passes against McNair to running backs, in particular to fullback Nathan Branco.
