STOCKTON — A dress rehearsal was much needed before the dance begins.

The Tokay High football team got that rehearsal at a round-robin scrimmage at Edison High’s stadium on Friday night. The Tigers competed against Atwater, Grant of Sacramento and host Edison.

In its first scrimmage against Atwater, Tokay went on defense first. The Falcons found the end zone twice against the Tigers; on a roll-out pass and an end-round run play.

Ten minutes later, the Tigers’ offense took the field against the Falcons’ defense. Atwater kept Tokay’s offense in check, as the Tigers could only move the ball to the Falcon 30-yard line.

“I think we started slow; we weren’t doing a great job up front and it took us some time,” said Tokay coach Michael Holst. “We have to get to a point of starting early. It’s just a matter of getting into a little bit better of rhythm.”
