One thing is certain about today’s game at the Grape Bowl at 7:15 p.m. between Tokay and Bear Creek — someone has to win.

Last week, Patterson (1-0) soundly defeated Tokay (0-1) 51-12 in the battle of the Tigers at the Grape Bowl. In Stockton, Roseville (1-0) posted a wild 52-46 win over Bear Creek (0-1).

“The entire team has had three good practices,” said Tokay coach Michael Holst.

One player in particular who stood out in the Tigers’ practices was senior quarterback Chase Howell.

“Chase has had a solid week of practice for us,” Holst said. “We were impressed with how (defensive end) Sebastian Palada played for us on defense. He’s book ended that performance with a solid week.”
