Tigers earn top five GPA in section

Last week, the Sac-Joaquin Section, the governing body for high school sports that oversees nearly 200 schools, released its Academic Team Champions for the fall season. The Tigers football program was fifth in the section with a 3.18 grade point average. Lists are compiled using unweighted grades (4.0 scale with no AP courses counted) from the first grading period of the 2018 school year. There were 19 Tiger football players who had a 3.0 GPA or higher, and three who were 4.0 and above. To read the News-Sentinel article about the awards, please click HERE. Branco earns high TCAL honors

Senior running back Nathan Branco earned 1st-Team All-TCAL honors when the league released its postseason awards recently. Branco was the Tigers leading rusher with 703 yards and five touchdowns and also added 219 receiving yards on 11 receptions. Junior offensive lineman Ian Lerner and senior Johnny Craggs were 2nd-team honorees. Lerner started all ten games at center and put together the Tigers' best season up front. Craggs led Tokay with 75 tackles and added 6.0 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries. Senior defensive back Chase Howell, senior defensive lineman Sebastian Palada and sophomore defensive back Joseph Filippini were Honorable Mention selections. Howell finished
